Trust in the LORD with all your heart…” (Proverbs 3:5a).
In the account of David, the average sized shepherd boy, who courageously stepped onto the battlefield to face a giant over nine feet tall, we can see this exhortation demonstrated. David carried nothing but a slingshot and five smooth stones. His opponent, Goliath, was fully armored and confident, laughing and mocking the boy who dared to challenge him. David’s response was clear and unwavering: “This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands, and I will strike you down and cut your head off.” (I Samuel 17:46a). David’s confidence was not in his own abilities or weapons, but in the strength and power of the LORD. His faith was absolute. David’s encounter with the giant reminds us to place our reliance not on our circumstances or resources, but on God alone.
